Drop The Bone
(http://www.myspace.com/dropthebone)
These boys are damn good, I say. Like the blowing of the wind in the prarie, they know how to make a sound like god. Since my first album way back when, I don't know what, but I tell you it was. When I asked them where they were from, they said Norwich, Norfolk, UK, but I just knew they were from Phoenix.... all the good guys are. They've been playing their shit as funk artists for a year, but befo' that all started there was something else.... somthing good... but something different. Some Jazz with the Football Club, some Rock anthems with some weddings, some freaked out improv that needed more imagination than ears, and some heavily orchestrated major phat shit with actors doing their thing to the sounds. They've got a big future ahead of them (they are all tall guys). They've got a big past behind them. The time for funk is now. These boys have a lot of watches and clocks, so they ain't going to miss the party! Drop the bone are available for private functions, corporate events, festivals, and are playing a guest spot @ 12bar club on 7th Sept. Wish to book the hottest funk band in town! call Zaid booking Zaid 07974 5000 19.

Jasco
Jasco formed in London’s Kings Cross at the end of the nineties and played at many warehouse parties that were taking place in the area, during a wild and creative time. That creativity has remained with the band, that was formed when singer Amber Wilson walked past the band’s unofficial residence, (a large warehouse space, that doubled as a house) and began spontaneously singing along with Hammond maestro Darren Smith’s irresistable funk grooves. The line up still features charismatic singer Amber, who also plays flute and saxophone, and keyboardist Darren Smith, as well as longtime members Scott Veale on percussion and Marcus Smith on guitar, but they are now joined by rhythm section aces Madis Malgand on drums and Mike Flynn on bass.

Baobab
story so far...Firstly, there was Koffi, a vocalist/sound engineer/producer, hailing from the Ivory Coast, heavily into all things dub, reggae, funk and the whole west african rhythmic style, but without direction! Then there was Silver, a journeyman bassist, heavily into punk/rock, in and out of bands. (eventually ended up in 'The Primitives' at the end of their career). He also found himself without direction! A mutual friend (he knows who he is) knew of their void, "kidnapped" them, took them to the deep heart of Kent, and said "make some music!" So what kind of music could be made with these vastly different styles? West meets west. West african enchanting rhythms vs the energy, power of all things punky/rocky. I heard once that they were ask what happened during the "kidnapping", "he gave me the rock" said Koffi, "he gave me the funk" said Silver. Would their two styles work together? through jamming, their diverse styles started to melt...up to a point. Something was still missing... Whilst engineering for 'Demi Soma' (ex Fella Kuti's keyboard player) in Brixton, Koffi came across Feyi (drums). Suddenly things began to make sense...Feyi's nigerian afro-beat style would be the canvas of the band's music, which he later on christened 'Ropofunk'. Many guitarists tried to bring their style to the band's avant-garde canvas. Their 'brush-strokes' or 'hue' weren't quite right, until... Rich came along. A colorful character if ever there was one. His bluesy style, and rocky attitude seemed to be what was needed. The 'picture', completed for all to see...the music is now for all to hear. Come and share the shelter of BAOBAB.

Andrew Morris
I am a singer songwriter and guitar player. I was born in Australia and lived in Melbourne until the age of 9, when my parents packed up and left for the brighter shores of the United Kingdom, where I have lived for the past 15 years. I also play in a band called MOZ who gig regularly in London. I also work full time too.
My style is honest and comes from the heart - I try to talk about things that matter most to me in my lyrics or just feelings that I have on a certain day. I love creating songs from nothing and love it when others enjoy it.

Mancini
Our aim, since we started Mancini, has been to seduce and excite our audience with a unique brand of slinky electro-rock that, while it is always distinct, continually evolves as we push hard on the musical boundaries of our influences and inspirations.
Our first track, Colour-blind, was recorded in just 4 hours and was picked up by Eddy Temple-Morris (XFM). Following this success, we decided to spend our time putting together a full live-show. Since then we've seen a steady rise in support as the word has spread about our sonic montage of sexy vocals, girating guitars and pumping beats.
Two of our demo tracks have recently been used for commercial projects: Little Things was included in a top selling surf DVD called The Elusive (also featuring Groove Armada, Lamb and Powder Finger); and signature track Boom-Pow has been used by the BBC on a Children In Need compilation.
We also appeared in a spot for MTVs 'A Cut' in April but turned down the offer to appear on the program because it just sounded rubbish!

Andrew Balkwill
Andrew Balkwill is 24 from London, his style is piano rock feel. influences Ben Folds, Elton John, Billy Joel, Rolling Stones and Jamiroquai etc.
So you want to know a bit about me?? Well I grew up in Cornwall, in a small town called Penryn. Always loved playing music, started on the violin (kind of only lasted a year cause I was never any good) but been playing the piano for as long as I can remember. In loads of different bands through school and college and also picked up the Guitar, a bit off Bass, Trombone, and about 2 terms playing the drums (so I can just about play in time)!!
In 2000 I studied at the Academy of Contemporary Music and passed with a distinction which meant I was fortunate enough to be able to study at one of the most prestigious music schools in the world Berkee College of Music in Boston, USA. After making loads of contacts out there I have returned to America many times to plug demos, make recordings and play in venues around New York, Boston and Los Angeles.

The Marshall Plan
The Marshall Plan are a band based in Balham, South London. After spending their teenage years playing in numerous different bands the current group came together in 2004 and put their thinking caps on to write and play original stuff. All are aged 24 and 25.

The Marshall Plan
Feldspar
Acoustic duo based near Leeds, UK, who combine astute songwriting with intricate harmonies. Will Green, lead vocals and guitar, and Ben Lloyd-Evans, piano and vocal harmonies, make up the band, who have been playing together since the start of 2004. Since recording our first album's worth of material with a bloke called Jerry ("Paper Planes", available in Borders or HMV in Leeds), we've come a long way. Not only has Will's hair kept growing upwards and outwards in an impressive manner, but other slightly less important things... Bunch of Lunatics - the first song we ever worked on together - is still a favourite at gigs and we still write play and love the kind of acoustic folk inspired music that you can hear on this site. But obviously we have kept on writing, playing and listening since then, and we are constantly on the lookout for any kind of opportunities to take our music further. We hope to take this as far as we possibly can, so if you've any suggestions or comments, please tell us. Will is curently studying English at Oriel College, Oxford. Ben is studying piano at the RNCM in Manchester.

Isaac Howlett
Performing his own original compositions, he made over sixty pounds in 3 hours, was bought lunch, offered a free recording session and booked to play a one-off support slot for the winner of a national songwriting competition. Surely, he thought, here was a hill just waiting to be climbed?
His university band had dispersed to their various home towns in July, and it was many weeks before they returned. By the time they did, it was already too late - Isaac had moved on, and by February, he was in London. It was a huge gamble, and for a long time it seemed that both his luck and his energy had run out, but now 18 months later and armed with some amazing new songs, things are finally moving for this hugely talented young artist.
His lyrics are rich with references to life in the city - a far cry from the small village in Kent where he grew up - and his original, catchy melodies and outstanding vocals have created a set of songs which are both memorable and compelling. A force to be reckoned with on the London acoustic circuit, Isaac Howlett has a big future ahead of him. I suggest you go see this boy play while the gigs are still free...

Funny Face
Funny Face were formed in the back end of 1999 after a chance meeting in Cardiff between Lyndon Ives (vocal, guitar) and Stefan Tomczyk (guitar, bass, keys, vocals). Songs followed. A selection of these songs were then transported to the Blue Room studios in Bedford, England and recorded by the legendary Ombudsmann in 2003.
London based Bingo Recordings quickly snapped up their huge potential garnered from these sessions alone. The result is the release of their 13 track album, "LUST", assorted digital music retailers. Their debut EP "DUST", recorded in 2002.
Dream, boogie, shake (cough) music is what we call it, and still do.
Funny Face are currently working on a new album "FICKLE" scheduled for a 2007 release.

Blue Soup
Blue Soup were formed in London in 2004 and have been making their own unique jazzy sound ever since. They combine soulful jazz songwriting, cheerfully downbeat lyrics, upbeat odd-time swinging grooves with Latin, Balkan, pop and rock influences.

Ella Jones
Ella has been playing the piano since she was 4, and writing songs since the age of 12. She has an eclectic style, and sounds like a modern day Carole King when she performs in front of the piano. Currently playing the London circuit with her band, she has played in venues such as Ronnie Scotts, Jazz Cafe, Cobden Club and many others. She has been working with Joe Barboza putting together tracks in the studio... She is one to watch!!

The Wheels
The story so far - The Wheels are a fresh blend of funk, soul and rock with dabbling with a bit of reggae and blues. Thrown together in a cooking pan to create the unique sound and taste of The Wheels. With our multi-cultural group members, we are finally happy to be playing the music that we enjoy and want to play. The Wheels started with Brij and Dec jammin away having played together for 8 years with another band, then acquiring new groovy members to create a fuller and more satisfying sound. We recalled our previous drummer and old friend Mo to add the beats, brought in Robin on the funky bass, some sexy licks from Christof on lead, and fat keyboard sounds from Dave, which completed the line-up of The Wheels. Having been together for 4 years, we rehearsed hard, jammed as much as possible to establish our sound, and began to write our own material influenced by our love of timeless music created by the greatest musicians to grace our planet. We gigged in bars in Soho and Portobello Road acoustically to show our delicate and stripped down sound, and then plugged in the electric guitars for more rocking bars, clubs and unis in and outside of London. Here are some of the venues in London we have enjoyed playing in The Metro Bar Totenham Court Road The Rock Garden Covent Garden The Elbow Rooms - Angel, The Garage Highbury & Islington The 12 Bar Cafe Denmark Street The Comedy Leicester Square The Bugbar Brixton The Lux Bar Hoxton Square Lark In The Park - Angel The Pleasure Unit Bar Bethnel Green The Purple Turtle - Camden The OJ Bar (formally The Kashmir Club) Baker Street The Mau Mau Bar Portabello Road Goldmiths, Middlesex, Stoke on Trent University Student Union Bars We are continually striving to push the boundaries of our minds and music to give to you, the unique blend and sound of The Wheels.

Rob Perry
Rob Perry was formed four years ago in South London after a chance meeting between drummer Stuart Crosbie and singer / songwriter Rob Perry.
Perry, the youngest of four musical children, was sight reading violin music by the age of eight. At 19, he picked up his trusty guitar and began writing, leading a tour of Germany with his band whilst on an adventurous journey to perfect his craft.
Crosbie, a drummer with some twenty five years experience in music ranging from punk to reggae, boasts a postgraduate diploma in rock and jazz from the illustrious Guildhall School of Music and Drama. His long friendship and rapport with frontman Perry are huge assets to the group. Guitarist Wayne Chappell was invited to meet Rob and lay down some material ahead of the making of their debut album. Perry added him to the line-up straight away, and his inventive riffs and solos are a memorable part of each track Long Orange has to offer. Bassist Cai Marle-Garcia is the most recent addition. At only 19, he is the youngest and brings to the group a great ear, determinition and the belief to succeed. Armed with his fretless jazz bass, this versatile musician keeps the low end sounding inventive but solid.

RDA
Lads from Newcastle Rob Peel and Dan Gray first played together aged six. Upgrading from Spectrum and football to guitars and girls they went on to explore South-East Asia and the art of fitting carpets... 2005 found them in London longing for inspiration until they found Hackney born, Lewisham bred Royal Academy of Music jazz graduate Arthur Lea. Bridging the north-south divide with their combined creative forces, this guitar/bass/keys trio mix vocal creativity with rhythmic harmony to produce songs of a sonorous simplicity.

Randolph Matthews
RANDOLPH "Afrisoul" Born in Camden in 1973, the son of West Indian parents, Randolph has always been heavily interested in the Soul Jazz scene in London, listening to Al Jarreau, George Benson and following Norman Jay’s club sessions. By the 1990’s he was doing sessions for the likes of Don Blackman, Julie Dexter (J Life) and Arthur Baker (Will Downing), and becoming increasingly in demand as a singer songwriter and performer – even doing the voice over for the “Twix, in the Mix” campaign. After a string of successful projects and tours with Speeka (Ultimate Dilemma), TY, Michelle Escoffery (Liberty X), Abstract Blue Recordings (Break Reform) and supporting Terry Callier, to name a few, Randolph’s experiences with Soul Folk music and lo-fi beats have brought him to write his most inspirational works to date. His voice is reminiscent of the days of Donny Hathaway, Jon Lucien, and Marvin Gaye – when men sang their pains and passions that touched the very heart of the sensitive listener. Randolph Matthews is currently working on his album “Indigenous Man” due to be released in 2006. Katja
Charismatic German born Katja arrived in London with just a rucksack and guitar - motivated by the desire to become a respected singer/songwriter. She has since supported successful Australian artist Mick Hart, played Dingwalls with Then Jericho, and two showcases with legendary American producer Kim Fowley. She has twice played for Carling Live at Olympia.

Nick Morrison Band
"As far as I can tell, Nick Morrison doesn’t know what he is. Part lanky-out-of-place-excessively-honest-and-self-conscious teenager, and part cocky-stage-filling-showman, he sure is interesting to watch. Nick swings between stomping funk and delicate acoustic tracks, through jazz-blues numbers and shameless sing-a-long pop songs, and drags the audience along with him. "
Nick has played venues including The Mean Fiddler, The Luminaire, and Half Moon, and has had music played on FuseFM, RareFM and in a BBC2 drama series.

Family Strange
In the summer of 2002 a squad of highly trained covert-ops commados went missing in an illegal war that never happened. They were never seen again. Their Families mourned their loss. Some years later strange ripples started to appear on the London Music Scene. A band of nameless individuals, that emerged from the nothing, would turn up at unsuspecting venues, play to stunned crowds and leave them soiling thier smalls. It soon became clear that this was the bunch of sonic rebels, thought to be inseminated by alien dingalings, known only as -Family Strange, - wanted by governments around the world for causing people to wake up and stop taking their political Poo-Poo-shit-shit. By playing what seems to be a churlish brand of christian rock music they slip in under the radar. Once there, the Family Strange use melodic-mind-goochoo ( a rare technique taught only by the elusive OomBoutou tribe of Newcastle) to liberate their listeners. The brave, the true, the ones who dare to listen are never forgotten by the Family........whenever there is trouble....whenever you need a friend....when the world has thrown you out.......all you have to do is whistle........thats right, just put your lips together and....blow.

Holy Man Jones
These south London friends must have stood out like a sore thumb, emanating from their Peckham homes came the sounds of Nashville, Memphis and Greenville, Carolina. As their peers were buying the latest Technic decks and Pioneer headphones they were learning guitar licks and Elvis Presley lyrics.
It started early when Colbert Hamilton and Paul Cunningham met at local music sessions. Colbert would be honing his distinctive deep southern soul vocals and Paul, his guitar skills. They lost touch after leaving school and Paul went on to become an in demand guitarists and producer. Working with the likes of, Massive Attack, Neneh Cherry, Gary Moore and Playing on Massive Attacks epoch making "Safe from harm'' single. Colbert meanwhile got off to a good start when still in his teens he was asked to sing on one of the last sessions Phil Linnot ever recorded. He went on to tour the world with his much loved, Rockabilly band Colbert Hamilton and the Hell Razors, which became inexplicably big in Japan for some reason.
It wasn't until Colbert and Paul met again at an industry gathering in the mid 90's that Holy Man Jones was born, Paul Kelly was quickly recruited on Bass and Maxwell Heath on drums, both seasoned musicians they were and still are a tight musical outfit. Initially they were a typical four piece band playing a mix of Rock and Soul. Then when Maxwell left they decided to continue as a three piece hitching a ride on London's burgeoning acoustic scene. When prospective new drummer T Daniel Howard saw the band live, he insisted he would only join if they would continue playing seated and allow him to add only snare and brushes, so as not to ruin what was a wonderful live act The bands live shows are often described as sizzling with great playing and highly emotive vocals. It is classic R&B great quick punchy songs one after the other with little chat or formality.
These live shows quickly brought them to the attention of small independent label Nesta Records and a deal was signed late in 2002. A year later the band have completed their debut album ''Let It Rain'', much like their live performances the album consists of 11 punchy rootsy and soulful tracks. There are nine originals and two cover versions Elvis's '' Trying to get to You'' and The Faces ''You can make me dance sing or anything''. Judging by the amount of radio play the tracks "Easy on yourself'' and ''You can make me dance sing or anything'', are getting they seem certain to be future singles.

Stuart Menzies Farrant
Even if you haven't seen Stuart Menzies Farrant live before you're sure to have heard the music at some time or other as he is one of the UK's most radio-friendly gospel singer-songwriters, a claim to fame attributed to talent and years of hard work.
"I've been making music since the late 80s, first as a guitar player with local rock bands, and then as a singer," Stuart says in his home recording studio before explaining how his emergence as one of gospel music's most accessible local talents nearly didn't happen: "After years of performing in pubs and clubs with different small-time outfits, I become disillusioned with striving for success and decided to quit music and settle down to a normal life instead."
The CD Revival's opening title track roars a rocky request to God for an outpouring of His Spirit, while Make Me Blind, this and other songs based on Stuart's own emotions and experiences, is Del Amitri-esque, taking submission as its theme. The CD then takes in soul, funk, pop, house, 70s rock and even the occasional sitar before A Better Way glides meaningfully into a vision of eternity. No wonder radio stations (including BBC Radio Leeds, BBC WM, BBC Radio Humberside, Branch FM and Greenbelt Radio) picked off tracks for airplay.
With the release came a new thirst to perform live, and Christian/ethical news website.
Rather than make this a tribute to his heavy rock roots, Stuart then looked at the gentler side of the presence of the Lord - the more mellow Tears to My Soul and Heal Me Now touching the listener personally and offering personal testimony as well as beautiful melodies.

Danny Hook
The love of writing and performing music has stood firm throughout his life. Hard work has manifested hundreds of completed songs. Countless demos gigs and line-ups have produced sincere industry interest, and the best has yet to happen. The Danny Hook Album is his first solo acoustic work. The material is lyrically profound. The songs are an honest account of his life experience, framed by a rich and intricate harmonic accompaniment. Stylistically the songs stand up on their own with acoustic production, with indulgent references to The Smiths, Jeff Buckley, and Nick Drake among so many others.

Adore have played a handful of successful shows in and around London and are currently looking for management.

The Farmers
An improvisational live drum n bass, garage and grime experience, the Farmers started "farming" in the summer of 2005. Having realised the MC's of London didn't have any live backing and always had to perform with a record as a backing track, the Farmers set about creating a "live backing track" that could be shaped and that moved with the MC.
They have the power to instantly direct where their basslines are going to go and the Farmers take their cues directly from the lyrics. This makes for a 100% live and interactive show.
James and Jeremy met at the school bus stop in 1986 and played their first gig together at school assembly in 1990. Some say that the 16 years they've been playing together makes for a great sound since they know each other well enough to predict the other's musical direction. Certainly, their music has kept them entertained for all this time.
DVS got involved by filling in with the Farmers for a gig at Mass at the end of 2005 and the partnership stuck.
As well as being a 50% owner of the Rollercoaster brand, DVS held a 12 month residency on London’s pirate radio station Ruud Awakening. He has performed at top Drum & Bass events including; Dekefex, Pyromaniacs, Clash of the Titans and Innovation, worked with DJs such as Andy C, Hype, Fabio, Pendulum, Nicky Blackmarket, Twisted Individual, Friction, Bailey, Brockie, Bryan Gee, Mampi Swift, Sub focus, Grooverider, Loxy, Teebee… the list goes on. He now holds residencies at Spitkingdom, and Darklight in Brighton and has worked with top UK Beatboxer Killa Kela and Mr. Normski.
Jeremy's been a drummer with the international percussion sensation STOMP since 1999 www.stomp.co.uk. After four years of world tour, still working for Stomp, Jeremy moved back to London late in 2003 to rejoin James and start a number of different projects.
James makes the Riddims. He has been involved with rock, pop, classical, jazz, folk, world and various urban musics and he is now concentrating on creating riddim tracks for the farmers. He says, "The universe drives me to music" ... and .... "my creativity is presently fuelled by class C narcotics."

James plays acoustic & electric guitar.
As regards style, the music is rock and pop with a hint of Blues. James is influenced by artists like Lenny Kravitz, Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer & The Dave Matthews Band.
James has had numerous amounts of studio experience, and has recorded numerous tracks. Six tracks are featured on the EP When You Decide. James has sold a major amount of EPs on the Internet and at sold out gigs. The Bridge
They’re young, from London and in the tradition of the great U.S. Funk bands.
They feature a vivacious singer with a fine soul voice and the dynamic Greenwich Horns.
Their set is packed with great original songs - which listeners tend to grow very fond of.
They have just been offered recording and publishing deals.
Recent gigs include headline appearances at some of London’s premier venues: The
Jazz Café, The Halfmoon, Jazzfly, The Chapel and The Bedford (it was standing room only at this legendary venue and – almost uniquely - the band received a standing ovation and two encores).
Out of town gigs include The Horn in St Albans, The Marquee, Hertford and a packed to the rafters fringe event at this year’s Cheltenham Jazz Festival.
The Rasps
The Rasps consist mainly of the songwriting partnership of Tom Donald and Kel Gregory. The songs are very diverse, slightly theatrical with raunchy latin aftertones to lyrical jazz ballads with a touch of motown, or rock, or swing, or soul. Genre simply doesnt exist. Kels lyrics are packed with just as much energy and variety as her stunning vocal performances. Better still every member of the Rasps comes from a different country which adds to the diversity and originality. The key to The Rasps individuality lies in the spontaneous process of music making. Improvisation is as central to bands musical world as it is in many non-western ethnic music cultures. The Rasps have a universal appeal without the mainstream sell-out ethos of today's music industry The Rasps are constantly busy recording, producing and performing throughout London and the wider U.K, so please feel free to keep visiting this web site for regular updates.

Amanaboutadog
Female fronted indie-art-pop band, amanaboutadog. strong songs, varied sets, distinctive vocals and (genuinely) outstanding guitar combine with gripping, cinematic live performances. receiving regular local press coverage, the trio have been described as must-see-now "definitely ones to watch" and are hotly tipped for big things on the hertfordshire scene. the musical core of amanaboutadog is claire (cute, cute, cute, effortlessly energetic and crazily creative) and ben (a quiet musician, with a huge internal sound-track to spill). the two met in july 2005 when claire spotted the guitarists advert on the wall of a local music shop...they were off. amanaboutadog evolved rapidly and impressed quickly:- supporting boy kill boy just four months into gigging. amanaboutadog outpaced any recruited band members on drum and bass and decided instead to work with recorded live drums from joe crabtree - a top notch professional drummer working at bottom rates to support the project (www.drumsolo.co.uk). recorded live bass from ben completed the line up.

Pamoja
Pamoja means 'togetherness' in Swahili. Pamoja is a 5 piece Afrobeat world music band based in London, United Kingdom and is a brainchild of Simon Chauke. Simon hails from the Limpopo Province of South Africa, a stone throw from the famous Kruger National Park. A second-born from a family of 6 [one elder brother, Thomas, and 4 younger sisters], Simon has loved music from an early age. His first guitar was made from a 5-litre can of Castrol oil and fishing strings. It was on this self-made guitar that he taught himself how to play. At 17, the family lost their father (the breadwinner) and the next few years the family had to experience the true meaning of poverty and spending a night without food. Luckily Simon and his brother always did well at school, and this led to Simon going to the University of Cape Town where as expected he did Civil Engineering. Throughout his academic life people encouraged him to pursue music as they thought he had the potential to make it but Simon never took it seriously.

Howard Dean Johnson
Contemporary jazz/soul songwriter, vocalist and guitarist Howard Dean Johnson is recognized for his distinctive sound and blend of passionate and upbeat performances. His well-loved jazz covers have built him a reputation as someone who knows his stuff, but also as a performer who brings his own voice and creative interpretation to well-worn standards such as ‘Me and Mrs Jones’ and ‘Up on the Roof’, making them fresh again to the ears of seasoned and new listeners alike.
But here’s a man whose art goes beyond the favourite familiar—a performance given by Howard largely showcases his original work, infused with humanist idealism and exquisitely-crafted lyrics. A Modern Romantic with a healthy hint of cynicism, there is nothing overly-sentimental about the London experience that this artist shares through his songs. And fans of jazz, soul and blues won’t be able to get enough of Howard’s contemporary interminglings of sounds.
Howard Dean Johnson has a wealth of experience within the music industry, performing live as a soloist and with various ensembles including jazz combos, big bands, acoustic guitar groups, and cover bands as well as recording extensively. He navigates effortlessly around a range of musical styles, from soul, blues and funk to jazz and contemporary jazz, and has worked with the likes of Mica Paris, Chaka Khan, Gary Crosby and Martin Speake. Now in the studio recording his latest album, A London State of Mind, Howard is stepping out into town to share his latest batch of songs speaking to…not surprisingly, A London State of Mind.

Talk Taxis
Talk Taxis entered the indie fray just over 2 years ago with a shared enthusiasm for music and badgering inept tutors. Foundations began in a Balham pub and, not fazed by the glamour and the glitz of forming a band, the music delivers substance and a style that draws on a myriad of influences. Singer Will White blows into his harmonica and taps his stylaphone in Rolf Harris inspired moments; drummer Daniel Ajegbo, intent never to fall on a standard rock beat, bangs his drums in a variety of styles, from funk to punk and back to dance; bassist Nathan Knight injects his very own flair for blues jam into the atmosphere and guitarist Tom Carmichael throws spiky guitar riffs on top. Writing tunes and playing live sits at the centre of their universe. And, unswayed by the preciousness of their own sound they've grown into playing a daring set that will lull you into a false sense of security, before shunting you back into action. A charismatic bunch of musical mavericks... well, secretly you can tell they know something we don't...

The Thirst
Acre Lane, the street that connects Brixton to Clapham is a place that has special significance for south London rock band The Thirst. Acre Lane is about our home says lead guitarist and vocalist Mensah about the first of several new track they are taking into the studio. We used to hang out there graffing, listening to music and stuff that was before we had a purpose I dont know what happened, its like something kicked us up the arse and said Do something with your life, thats basically how it all started. Inspired by a stunningly diverse array of musical styles including Hendrix, Marley, Radiohead, Snoop Dogg, Nirvana and anything else that suit their wide-ranging and inquisitive music tastes, Mark (guitar), Marcus (drums) and brothers Mensah (lead guitar/vocals) and Kwame (bass) formed The Thirst in 2003. Mensah picked up his first guitar at the age of 14 a gift from his father who taught him a few chords to get him started. Seen as more of a chore than fun it took Mensah until the age of 17 to realize that making music had become his passion. He inspired the other members to follow suit and they all started jamming together, experimenting and exchanging musical ideas shared through their common social and cultural experiences growing up in Brixton & Clapham.

Franny Whitfield was born on May 28th, 1974 in Los Angeles. At the age of six she began to study voice intensively with a private trainer and from then on she has been practically engrossed in the world of music as a vocalist.

It is a collection of songs written over the last 10 years that has finally found a means to be recorded. Oliver Pigott
Oliver Pigott. He is all at once a powerful singer, timeless songwriter and magnetic, explosive performer. Standing 6 foot 2 inches with a crop of outrageously wild hair, Oliver’s presence commands your attention. What most people recognize instantly is the kid’s astounding lyrical abilities. As one admirer from Los Angeles explained, “It’s almost as if Oliver has spent his young life on a train and seen the world in all its joy, pain, benevolence, cruelty and social injustice.” The tunes, too, speak of a world-weary soul, resulting in a wonderful melodic mix of blues, country, folk and rock ‘n’ roll. After the passing of his father, a blues harmonica player, Oliver picked up the instrument. He was twelve. Jamming to his dad’s vinyl, he would emulate the styles of Muddy Waters and Elmore James.
Not content to just play, he began to perform in bars along the Algarve in Portugal. Returning to Toronto, Canada, Oliver gathered a passionate legion of fans with his band “Laughing Sam’s Dice”, playing such legendary clubs as The El Mocambo and The Opera House. In 2002, Oliver signed a deal with BMG Music Publishing. In two years he wrote some fifty songs and performed them regularly in LA at Genghis Cohen, The Hard Rock Café and Club 1650. His following grew ever stronger. As his debut album nears completion, the rest of the world is about to discover what his many admirers already know. In the words of one devoted Pigott concertgoer, “Oliver picks up that guitar and steps up to the microphone like he’s coming home. I’ve seen him so many times because he’s twenty feet tall onstage and I can’t look away.”

Bamboojuice
What some people have said:
"Bamboojuice performed an acoustic set for us @ Sound Unplugged well over a year ago. Even back then, they were absolutely exceptional. Their set @ Storm recently as a 3 piece was even better. We were treated to a half hour set of well crafted, memorable rock songs, all complimented by Marks outstanding Eddie Vedder style vocal. With solid guitar riffs and obvious tight bond between Will and Sav (bass and drums), these guys are a pure power 3 piece" - www.thetalentscout.co.uk
"Blown away by what I saw...more than outsold the music with their performance...energy, drive, immaculate stage presence...first band i've seen that really interacts with the audience. Bamboojuice have the edge that live music needs." - Edward Adoo, Sky Student Broadcast Network.

Les Voleurs (Moomu Records)
A collective of 4 DJ’s, producers and musicians, Les Voleurs, have consistently impressed with their genius remix’s & releases, over the past five years. Having played in all of London’s main venues including none other than the world famous Jazz Café, and having worked with the likes of Bugs in the attic amongst others, their sets are always full of surprises, that never fail to show that they know their music. Delambert “ Ghost foot” Mensah (Rollerdisco/Canvas X)
“Dancers make the greatest DJs”… “In order to really rock a dance floor, you have to have been on the floor getting rocked. That’s how you understand the psychology of a group of people wanting to have a good time. Having had his first solo night at the Goodge Bar his 4 hour sets consisted of 20s jazz going through Rock, Pop, Funk, Disco, House and World Music. To this day his aim remains the same: to enlighten and create a vibe of enjoyment and get none dancers to head nod – hard and get the rest to get up and express.
Ghostfoot is a regular DJ at the Roller Disco at Canvas X and that’s DJing and skating, as well as being an associate of the Akufunkture nights, or as those guys refer to him “he’s the add on you needed to complete a level in the game R-Type”…Go figure
